Here at Bottega Toscana, the goal is simple: real food at a reasonable price. But what does it
mean "real food"? Well, generally speaking if the ingredients list of
any product has more than five entries, there is a high probability that
we are talking about an industrially processed item; food should be
fresh, therefore preservatives are out.
Food should be also made
from scratch, not from bags of pre-mix with who knows what ingredients
in them. Phrases like "freshly baked" have no meaning, a loaf of bread
is a real loaf of bread when it is made with flour and water only, not when
and industrial mix of ingredients is baked in the morning...
The choice of ingredients is also paramount: the best chef with low quality ingredients won't be able to make a decent meal, while anyone can prepare fantastic food with great fresh produce. We live in a lucky country, most of our cows are grazing placidly on green paddocks, fed with grass, their meat full of flavours and healthy fats; the climate makes Australia perfect for olive trees, and as a Tuscan I cannot believe how amazing is our Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oil, tasty and good for our health.
That's the secret of real food: good ingredients, varied, fresh and seasonal.
